Russia plans to pour first concrete for the Kursk II nuclear power plant in May 2018, Rosenergoatom said today, citing comments its general director, Andrey Petrov, made during a visit to the plant's construction site. Full-scale groundwork at the site started on 15 June. Units 1 and 2 of the plant will be VVER-TOI reactors and commissioning of the first unit is scheduled for April 2022. Petrov also said that, by the end of this year, RUB6.5 billion ($101 million) will have been spent on the project, including RUB3.5 billion on construction and installation work.
